Regular Exams & Cleaning

Regular exams keep your mouth healthy. We check for hidden issues, cavities, and gum disease. Your teeth receive a thorough cleaning. The exam lasts about 45 minutes, including detailed teeth cleaning to remove tartar and plaque, as well as polishing and rinsing. Visit our office every six months to ask questions and schedule your next appointment.

Fluoride

Fluoride is a substance that helps prevent cavities and tooth decay. When you get a fluoride treatment at the dentist, it only takes a few minutes. After the treatment, you may be advised to avoid rinsing, eating, or drinking for at least 30 minutes so that your teeth can absorb the fluoride. How often you need a fluoride treatment depends on your oral health and your dentist's recommendation. It could be every three, six, or 12 months.

Sealants

Brushing alone may leave hard-to-reach spots vulnerable to tooth decay, but dental sealants provide extra protection. Sealants are plastic resins that smooth out the deep grooves on teeth, making it harder for plaque to build up. While commonly applied to children's permanent teeth, adults can also benefit. Sealants typically last three to five years, but if they come off, schedule an appointment to have them re-applied.

Oral Cancer Screening

As part of your regular checkup, Dr. Scott will perform a thorough evaluation around your mouth, head and neck that might feel a bit like a massage! It is very important to identify any irregularities as soon as possible so the proper referral for treatment can be made.

Mouthguards

Protecting your smile during sports is crucial. Mouthguards safeguard teeth and gums from injury. For full-contact sports, the American Dental Association advises wearing a mouthguard. There are three types: pre-made, boil-and-bite, and custom-made by a dentist. Choose a tear-resistant, comfy, well-fitted, and breathable mouthguard. We will demonstrate proper use and aid in selecting the right one to safeguard your smile.

Nightguards

If you wake up with jaw pain, earaches, or headaches and grind your teeth, you may have bruxism. Bruxism can lead to tooth damage, but nightguards are an easy treatment to prevent further wear and tear. These custom-made, acrylic guards can prevent teeth-grinding and assist in relaxing the jaw muscles as you sleep.

Bonding

Bonding fixes minor tooth issues with a white filling. It blends in with natural teeth, replaces silver fillings, and works for front or back teeth. It's affordable, quick, and can be done in a single visit. It may stain and is more breakable than veneers, but fixes are usually simple.

Bridges

A bridge replaces missing teeth, maintains facial shape, and relieves bite stress. It looks great and bridges gaps between teeth, made from various materials. Its success depends on the foundation of surrounding teeth, gums, and bone, so maintaining oral health is crucial.

Crowns

Crowns fix broken, worn, or decayed teeth by capping the tooth above the gum line. They can be made of porcelain or metal, but porcelain is preferred for its natural look and durability. When a filling isn't possible or sufficient, a crown is used. Crowns are made in a lab using an impression of your tooth, ensuring a perfect fit. Once placed, your mouth functions normally.

Dental Extractions

Tooth removal may be needed due to misshapen roots, decay, infection, or orthodontic correction. The procedure expands the tooth socket and separates the tooth using sedation. After extraction, nearby teeth may shift, so replacing the tooth is often recommended.

Fillings

Traditional dental fillings are strong silver amalgam, great for back teeth. Newer ceramic and plastic fillings look like natural teeth and are used on front teeth. Fillings can be direct (placed in one visit) or indirect (inlay, onlay, veneer) requiring multiple visits.

Implant Restoration

Missing teeth? Consider replacing them with implants. Implants are durable, metal and porcelain teeth that look just like real ones. They restore stability to your bite and prevent your face from aging. Plus, implants can support dentures and give you a natural smile. Take care of them, and they'll last a lifetime!.

Root Canals

COMING SOON!

Root canal treatment saves teeth with diseased nerves, preventing loss. Cracked teeth or deep cavities can allow bacteria in, causing infection. Untreated infection leads to abscesses, pain, and jawbone damage. Treatment involves removing affected tissue, cleaning, sealing, and filling the tooth. Severe decay may require a crown. With proper care, restored teeth can last a lifetime.

Veneers

Veneers fix gaps, chips, stains, and misshapen teeth for a confident, beautiful smile. They're thin, tooth-colored shells custom-made to cover the front of your teeth. First, a model of your teeth is made and sent to a dental technician who creates the veneers. We prepare your tooth, place the veneers, and then blend it in with your natural teeth. To maintain your tooth’s beauty, avoid staining foods like coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco.

Surgical Implant Placement

COMING SOON!

Implants are a great way to replace a tooth that is lost. Dr. Scott has experience performing implant surgeries during his time at UCLA. Given proper bone support, an implant can be inserted and then must be allowed to solidify with the bone around it. After three to six months, a post and a crown can be affixed to the implant, completing the artificial tooth.
